Chauvet Brandies

5/10/2022

Joshua Chauvet profile
The story of the honored French immigrant, Joshua Chauvet, begins with a pursuit of gold during the rush of the 1850s. After seeing a positive return from baking and selling bread to fellow miners, Chauvet set up shop near Sonoma Creek. The proceeds of his baking endeavors lead to the import of a state-of-the-art copper still from France, introducing Brandy to the Bay Area. Stories of his rambunctious Irish wife, Ellen Sullivan, are popularly told due to her fervent pursuits of the drink. Chauvet died in 1908, after gaining great acclaim throughout the region for his pioneer into the world of wine and spirits!

We created these unique products to showcase different aspects of Wine Country. From the grapes of Solano to the black walnuts of Sonoma County, we strive to highlight the diverse and delicious produce available to us in this glorious countryside.

Sugar Daddy Rums

5/10/2022

Adolf Spreckels profile
Sugar Daddy Rums honor Adolf Spreckels: a sugar baron, industrial tycoon, Sonoma resident, and the original "Sugar Daddy". The older sugar baron married the beautiful Alma May who was more than half his age and quickly propelled into the social spotlight. She was heard calling out for her “Sugar Daddy” at their Sonoma mansion while roaming their estate with a cocktail in hand.

We have scoured the Caribbean in search of exciting sugar cane rums that would meet the Sugar Baron’s exquisite taste and brought them to Sonoma to age in our fantastic climate in quality French Oak wine barrels. The Sugar Baron lives on in Sugar Daddy Rum.

Hooker's House Whiskeys

5/10/2022

General Joseph Hooker profile
Hooker's House Whiskeys are a tribute to General Joseph Hooker and his over-indulging, outrageous lifestyle.  Although his military practices are often questioned, his love of whiskey and women cannot be. His Army reputation as a “ladies’ man” began early in his career and he was referred to as the “Handsome Captain”.  The general kept morale high among his troops by inviting a posse of ladies to fraternize with the gents.  At first, the women became known as "Hooker's brigade" or "Hooker's girls" and later became just plain "Hookers”.

The legendary General Hooker liked to carry on so much with women and whiskey that he popularized the word Hooker to its common use.  The General’s home, Hooker House, located off the historic plaza in Sonoma is now a museum celebrating his spirited life and now the spirit and legend of General Joseph Hooker lives on in Hooker’s House Whiskeys.
